Rushden Rangers are devising a series of experiences to put our sense to the test, and seeing how we size up to our animal friends. So great ready for breathing in the scents in the air, listening to the sounds of nature. Get prepping for the touch challenge, feeling textures, and joining in all the specially set tests ahead

30th July: Wildlife Gardening; Bee Inspired

Can you move like a beetle? Dance like a bee? Sing like a bird? Rushden Rangers are returning to the colourful community garden for an inspiring day in nature. They’ll be exploring the colours insects and animals love and spotting some at work, and play; learninghow some birds have special songs for hunting, migrating and finding their way home; and everyone will be making their own creations in collage, dance, story & song

6th August: Powering Up

This week we’re thinking about where power comes from and what clever ways nature is behind generating electricity. The Rushden Rangers are getting their thinking caps on to share how heat pumps work, how solar panels perform and how wind & water’s energy is captured and turned into power. We’ll also be looking at fossil fuels, may be a few dinosaurs, and what makes energy clean. So prepare to Power Up at Rushden Lakes

13th August: Time Travellers

Rushden Rangers are looking at how Rushden Lakes has changed & transformed over time. Investigating the ground that you’re standing on, and tracking how valleys formed. Seeing how gravel and sand are made, stones really ROCK! And going way, way back to the Ice Age and discovering what walked where we treading now. Spoiler alert, yes, we mean mammoths (and much, much more)!

20th August: Really Wild Record Breakers

Our feather, furry & fishy friends all have incredible talents, physical abilities and strengths. The Rushden Rangers are celebrating how animals have evolved to survive and thrive in this world we share with the Really Wild Record Breakers: Setting animal to human ratio challenges and learning how well different body shapes & sizes suit their environment. And running lots of games to showing how animals use playing to learn and hone their specialist skills
